Why You’ll LOVE This Recipe

A Banana Split Parfait is something that can be had as an exciting breakfast or a healthier sweet treat (and really, anytime in between!).

I am confident you’ll love this recipe because it is highly customizable based on preferences and what you have on hand.

Ingredients for a banana split parfait

Banana Split Parfait Ingredients

Of course, you can easily customize this recipe but I’ll tell you exactly how I make my Banana Split Parfait.

Banana: Of course a fresh banana is needed for a Banana Split Parfait!

Vanilla Greek Yogurt: You can use any yogurt flavor, but a greek variety will hold the shape of the ice cream scoop the best.

Blueberries: These add some amazing color and antioxidants.

Walnuts: This is a sift nut. You won’t be surprised with a hard crunch with this choice.

Sliced Almonds: If you are going to use almonds I would recommend they not be whole. Those may make for a mouthful in this dish.

Chia Seeds: These add some easy fiber and look like sprinkles!

Cherries: A fresh cherry works great if you are having this for breakfast, but if you’re going to have it for dessert you may want to use a sweeter, maraschino cherry!

A fun banana split dish isn’t required to make this parfait, but it sure does make it more fun! I received my set from my grandma, but I found a set on amazon that will get the job done.

How To Make A Banana Split Parfait

Begin to make this parfait by slicing a banana in half lengthwise. If you are able to leave it connected on one side it will hold everything in best. If not, don’t worry about it. As you can see below, I couldn’t!

Next up, grab a cookie scoop and plop a few servings of yogurt into the center of the split banana.

The rest is just adding your toppings from smallest to largest. By this I mean adding the chia seeds, sliced almonds, blueberries, then walnuts!

Of course finishing with the cherry on top!

Expert Tips and Tricks

To make this more curated towards a dessert dish, I have a few recommended additions:

  • Honey or agave nectar
  • Chocolate, strawberry, or caramel sauce
  • Chopped sour candy
  • Sprinkles
  • Gummy bears and worms
  • Whipped cream

If you want to have this on a regular basis for breakfast, you may want to change up the toppings so you never get bored. Here are some other items you could rotate in:

  • Peanut butter, jam, or jelly
  • Honey or agave nectar
  • Sliced strawberries, blackberries, peaches, apples, or oranges
  • Granola
  • Different flavored yogurts

Do you have any other ideas for what would go well on either version? Let me know in the comments down below so I can try it as well!

A Word From A Registered Dietitian

Making a balanced breakfast fun and exciting can keep you and your loved ones interested! If you’re sick of having the same old breakfast every single day, try something else!

This Healthy Banana Split Parfait is exactly the thing that will reignite the excitement of breakfast.

Plus, this is still a balanced meal! You are getting protein from your greek yogurt, fiber from the fruit, and additional nutrients from the other nuts and seed toppings.
